I get lots of great questions and I thought it would be great to collect some of the more popular ones here to share.
How long did it take you to make that?
Forever! Actually, it varies. It usually takes me months to come up with the concept and story behind each individual art work. Then the time it takes to make the physical artwork can take anywhere from a few days to a few months to be completed.
What is your process?
I start with a very specific visual idea of what I want to create in my mind, then I break down the layout into parts. I work step by step, being very precise with each cut and element of the composition. I consider the work to be most successful when the labour of craft is only discovered after the viewer identifies with the object.
What is in your toolbox?
What kind of scissors do you use? My favourite scissors are a pair of manicure scissors! They are tiny and have a nice curve to them. I also use a number of other types of scissors and blades too.
What kind of glue do you use? I use Lineco Neutral PH Adhesive. It's great and was formulated specifically for preservation materials and will not become brittle with age.
What kind of paper do you use? I use a variety of different papers from all sorts of sources and no, I don't paint it.
I want to add one of your pieces to my art collection. How do I do that?
What’s coming up next?
I've got some big plans for my tiny plants! It’s not so much the lives of plants that fascinate me, it’s the lives of people with plants. This is what I am exploring in my new body of work. If you'd like to see what upcoming events and exhibitions are happening please click here!
